Import your vehicle

European Union car

• If you have a car registered in the European Union and you come to live in Spain, you have to take into account that you must register it in Spain within a maximum period of one month from the date you obtain the residence.
• If you do not have enough time in those 30 days, you can ask the Dirección General de Tráfico (DGT) for the temporary registration of your vehicle; in this way, you will have green license plates with which you will be able to circulate in Spain for two months (extendable) until you finish the registration.

Car from outside the European Union

• In case the vehicle is not from the EU, you will have to register it in Spain after going through Customs. There will be a series of requirements and payments that you will have to make with the Tax Agency.
• While you go through the formalities, you can also ask the Dirección General de Tráfico for the temporary registration of your vehicle (green license plates) to circulate in Spain for two months.

Car sharing and car rental

In Spain there are many companies dedicated to"car sharing", you only have to search on the internet for the one that offers its services in the city or area where you live.

If what you want is to rent a car, you have many pages where you can find the one you want, such as avis, pepecar or europacar. You also have the possibility to search in different pages that compare prices such as rentalcars.
