Acadčmic
The School of Modern Languages of the University of Barcelona (EIM) has opened the enrolment period for the 2022-2023 academic year, which includes courses in six languages: English, French, German, Italian, Chinese and Persian. This academic year will be marked by a gradual return to normality after the pandemic, but the blended and online offerings will continue. With the changes brought by COVID-19, new learning habits have emerged, and more and more students are opting for hybrid and digital formats due to the advantages of flexibility and the delocalization of studies.
In addition to its courses, EIM provides language level certificates; it is an examination center for Cambridge English and ACLES diplomas, as well as DELF and DALF diplomas for French and German accreditations from the Goethe Institute. The EIM issues nationally and internationally recognized certificates. Throughout the year, the School offers various exams and preparation courses.
Personalized consulting
Throughout the month of September, EIM offers a personalized counseling service, provided by its staff, to help the future students determine their level and what type of course or exam suits their needs.
Those interested in studying English can opt for either an online assessment or a face-to-face session at EIM’s Barcelona and Badalona offices. In these sessions, the students carry a test out to identify the most appropriate level and course according to the their objectives.
Those interested in studying other languages can contact by e-mail the coordinators of their studies and arrange a telephone or virtual appointment. The personalized counseling section of the EIM website provides detailed information and contact information for this service.
In addition, throughout the year, the EIM also offers the possibility of taking free online level tests in English, German, French and Italian.
Economic aid
The University of Barcelona and the Catalan Government provide students with grants to cover the cost of English, German, Italian and French courses and the exams: the bkUB (for undergraduate students at the University of Barcelona) and the Parla 3 (for undergraduate students at any university in Catalonia). Both grants are compatible and their combination allows UB students to access a wide range of courses almost free of charge. For more information, please consult the grant section
Fraction payment
On the other hand, in order to be able to afford the total cost of the course more comfortably, the option of fraction payment is offered with the collaboration of Banco Sabadell. The payment of the course or the test can be divided into three, six, nine or twelve months no-interest payments.
