The Ferran Soldevila garden of the Historical Building will be the setting, this festive season, for several concerts as part of the Sounds of the City Christmas programme, an initiative that takes music all over Barcelona with musical proposals by local bands representing the city’s artistic wealth.

Those who come to the University will be able to listen to the soprano Aseel Massoud and the guitarist Ahmad Diab, who intertwine classical Arab music, Catalan popular music and flamenco; the young Mallorcan singer Maria Jaume; the pop and folk melodies of Ferran Palau, and the songs of Mariola Membrives, one of the most interesting voices of the new generation of artists.

Sounds of the City is a programme of live music in the streets and squares of Barcelona’s shopping centres and markets, promoted by the City Council. Its programme for the festive season, named Sounds of Christmas, includes 113 free concerts by 50 groups, which will play in 80 venues in the city’s ten districts.
