Maria Teresa Sauras Yera, lecturer at the Department of Evolutionary Biology, Ecology and Environmental Sciences, is the new rector’s delegate for sustainability. She replaces Gustavo A Llorente, from the same department of the Faculty of Biology, who leaves the position due to his retirement.
Sauras assumes the position with a broad background in sustainability: she has been the head of studies in Environmental Sciences from 2019 to 2022 and is a representative of the UB in the Ad Hoc Group on Sustainability of the League of European Research Universities (LERU). She is also a member of the CBP teaching innovation group and lecturer of the Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Sciences and the Master’s Degrees in Environmental Agrobiology and in Ecology, Environmental Management and Restoration. She is also a member of the Consolidated Research Group FORESTREAM, and her lines of research include soil-plant relationships and ecological restoration, among others.
As the rector’s delegate for sustainability, she will be responsible for extending the 2030 Agenda at the UB; promoting sustainability actions in all the university’s units and faculties; coordinating sustainability actions that involve the participation of various UB units and faculties; offering collaboration, support and advice on sustainability in teaching, research and transfer; and disseminating the sustainability actions undertaken by the UB, among others.
