Expocičncia, the the event of science, technique and innovation of the University of Valencia celebrates this year its 15th edition. The event is on Saturday, May 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the university’s Science Parc. Play, learning and fun are guaranteed for the thousands of visitors who come every year to this innovative space located near the Burjassot-Paterna Campus.
Expocičncia is the open day of the Science Park (PCUV), an innovation ecosystem of the University of Valencia and a place where scientists and entrepreneurs work to make effective the transfer of knowledge to the productive sector and society. Like every year, the Park organizes this science, technology and innovation event in order to bring the public together to this scientific and innovative ecosystem. And it does so in the form of a game throughout Saturday morning.
As it has been for the last years, Expocičncia offers about a hundred playful and informative proposals. All activities are prepared by the research institutes of the University of Valencia and the CSIC, located in the PCUV, as well as university entities such as the School of Engineering (ETSE), the UV Natural History Museum, the Experimenta Fair, other extern centres of the UV and the Parc Científic companies.
Workshops on physics, chemistry, astronomy, biology, robotics and more will offer visitors the chance to immerse themselves in the more playful side of science, creating their own bacteria, obtaining DNA from fruit, analysing archaeological objects, preparing slime, launching rockets, playing with Lego robots, observing cells or participating as a researcher for a day in a scientific congress.
Visitors will get to share experiences with great researchers, like the ones who work at the European Space Agency or at the Great Particle Accelerator of te CERN; or those involved in biodiversity conservation, energy efficiency and the environment. Because many of them work in the Science Park and will be at the Expocičncia with the public.
The open day will hold the prize giving of the Media100cia contest of scientific and informative microvideos.
Organized by the Science Park of the University of Valencia, Expocičncia is visited by thousands of citizens every year and has the collaboration of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), as well as the support of the Generalitat Valenciana.
The organization recommends the use of public transport.
