Dolors Corella Piquer - a full professor for 15 years - has linked her professional career to leadership. Her career has been a pioneer in the integration of genomics in epidemiological research. In 1998 she launched the first Research Unit in Molecular Genetic Epidemiology at the University of Valencia, of which she is director.
Her current interest focuses on the integration of genomics, epigenomics, transcriptomics and other omics (a new research field in which all biological data obtained from several studies are integrated), both in disease research cardiometabolic as in healthy aging.
The Valencian researcher has also been a promoter of the Prometeo excellence project to incorporate the gender perspective in the integration of omics and improve the development of Precision Medicine. In September 2019 she took office as an academic of the Royal National Academy of Pharmacy.
Among other awards, she has been awarded the Gregorio Marañón Memorial Award for the best food scientist, awarded by the Royal Academy of Gastronomy (2017); and the International Hipócrates Award (2017), given by the Royal Academy of Medicine and Surgery of the Principality of Asturias. She has published more than 250 articles and supervised more than 20 doctoral theses.
Professor Dolors Corella has a degree and a doctorate in Pharmacy from the University of Valencia, with an extraordinary award on both occasions. She also has a degree in Food Science and Technology, and has carried out numerous research stays in prestigious international centres.

The award ceremony of the VII Health Awards, held at the Neptuno Palace in Madrid from 6 p.m., has also recognised the role of other leading women in the health sector and whose example is inspiring in an increasingly feminized area of society. They are, among others, María Victoria Mateos Manteca, president of the Spanish Society of Hematology and Hemotherapy (SEHH); Pilar Rodríguez Ledo, president of the Spanish Society of General and Family Physicians (SEMG); Asunción Torregrosa Andrés, president of the Spanish Society of Medical Radiology (Seram) or Susana Jiménez Murcia and Raquel Cuevas Pérez, first heads of the Clinical Psychology Service in Spain.The awards jury was made up of 18 leading women, who decided the winners of the VII Sanitarias Awards.
