The International Congress on Work and Organisational Psychology will be held on 15th and 16th September in honour of Professor José María Peiró. It will be in face-to-face format and also by videoconference, through the YouTube channel of the Consejo General de Psicología.
José María Peiró is professor emeritus at the Universitat de València and has been director of the Research Institute of Personnel Psychology, Organisational Development and Quality of Working Life (IDOCAL) and President of the International Association of Applied Psychology.
In his research, the organisers recall, Professor Peiró "addresses numerous topics and analyses in depth the challenges of our world, such as work in an increasingly digitalised context (accelerated by the pandemic), the well-being of workers in these new environments and sustainability. On an international scale, he has carried out highly relevant work, including the presidency of the EAWOP (European Association of Work and Organizational Psychology, 1995-97) and of the IAAP (International Association of Applied Psychology, 2011-2014)". Throughout his career, they say in a statement, "José María Peiró has contributed to teaching innovation, promoting inter-university doctoral programmes and directing the International Consortium for the Erasmus Mundus Master's Degree in Work, Organisational and HR Psychology".
Professor Peiró is also a full member of the Spanish Academy of Psychology and has been awarded Honorary Doctorates by the Methodist University of Sao Paulo (2010), the Miguel Hernández University (2017), the University of Maastricht (2020), the University of Coimbra (2020) and the Federico Villareal National University (2021). In addition, he has received national and international awards such as the Aristotle Award of the European Federation of Psychology Associations (Milan, 2015), the Distinguished Teaching Award of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (2022), the Machiko Fokuhara Award Excellence in International Research and Service of the International Council of Psychology (2013), the EAWOP Life Time Achievement Award (2013), the Certificate of Honour of the IAPP (2018), the "José Luis Pinillos" Award for Psychologist of the Year of the Psicofundación (2016) and the Research Award of the Economic and Social Council of Spain (2017). He is Honorary Fellowship of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology of USA (2009) and the European Academy of Occupational Health Psychology (2001).
