Roles and responsabilities of the position:
- Leading projects on novel protein-drug conjugates modalities from linker design, payload combination and conjugation chemistry.
- Comprehensive experimentation in the fields of organic chemistry and bioconjugation with focus on protein-drug conjugates and chemistry-driven protein-protein conjugations.
- Carry out industry-funded research projects.
- Assist with grant writing, scientific reports, and grant management.
- Provide technical support for ongoing research projects as needed.
Criterios de evaluación
- Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field from a top international University.
- Research experience on the development of state-of-the-art technologies for protein bioconjugation.
- At least 5 years of postdoctoral experience.
- At least 10 years of experience in research, with background in organic chemistry, biomolecular chemistry, and protein bioconjugation and experience on antibody-drug conjugates and cancer-related research.
- An outstanding tracked record of scientific achievements including at least 20 publications in recognised journals.
- Experience in translational research.
- Technical skills:
We are looking for an ambitious, innovative researcher who have demonstrated independence by successfully securing individual funding through prestigious scholarships and grants. This position offers an excellent opportunity for independent-minded individuals to further develop their research vision in a stimulating, supportive, and highly collaborative environment. Ideal candidates will have a proven track record of obtaining independent funding at all stages of their career, particularly highly competitive scholarships such as Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellowships, or equivalent competitive grants. The drive to lead pioneering research and the potential to attract further funding to develop independent research lines. Hands on experience in the following areas is desired: Bioconjugation. Site-selective bioconjugation of proteins in full IgG or fragment antibody formats. Linker design and bioconjugation in the context of antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs). Linker design and bioconjugation in the context of chemistry-driven assembly of bispecific and multispecific antibodies. Peptide Chemistry. Solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS). Peptide cyclization, ligation, and bioconjugation. Method development for the implementation of novel reactions for peptide modification. Organic Synthesis. Experience in the synthesis and modification of cytotoxic payloads with click handles. Development and execution of complex organic synthesis strategies in the context of biomolecular chemistry. Design and synthesis of modified amino-acids. Translational research. Experience with translational research in the context of protein-drug conjugates demonstrable through patented technologies in bioconjugation chemistry or related fields. Experience with implementation of industry-funded projects. Project and Lab Management. Leadership and supervision of research teams in a multidisciplinary enviroment. Experience mentoring PhD, Master, and undergraduate students. Structural Biology and Analytical Techniques. Strong background on NMR-based characterization and structure elucidation of peptides. Structural analysis of proteins and peptides by means of Circular Dichroism and nanoDSF. Computational Chemistry. Background on Molecular Mechanics and molecular Dynamics simulations in the context of protein and peptide modelling. Application of molecular dynamics simulations for rational inhibitor design. Analytical Chemistry. Strong understanding of analytical techniques including HPLC, UHPLC-MS, FPLC and NMR. Basic understanding of biophysical techniques for the characterization of protein binding including BLI, SPR, Fluorescence Polarization and similar. Peer-Review and Editorial Experience. Active reviewer for leading journals in bioconjugation and organic chemistry.
- A competitive level of English (spoken and written) is required. A competitive level of Spanish (spoken and written) is desired but not compulsory.
- Good communication skills.
Se ofrece
- The opportunity to be part of one of the few European Cancer Research Centres of excellence.
- An excellent working, multidisciplinary environment.
- Competitive salary.
- Contract linked to a project.
