Purpose: Lead the calibration efforts for the ARRAKIHS mission under the European Space Agency (ESA), ensuring the scientific accuracy of data collected by the instrument.
Working location: Institute of Space Sciences (ICE-CSIC), Carrer de Can Magrans, 08193 Cerdanyola del Vallès, Barcelona
Key Responsibilities:
Calibration Pipeline Development: Lead the design and implementation of the calibration pipeline for data processing.
Calibration Plan: Develop and execute a strategy addressing on-ground and in-flight calibration, including systematic effects.
Collaboration: Coordinate with ESA teams, detector characterization teams, and other calibration groups.
Performance Analysis: Support end-to-end performance assessments and optimizations.
Documentation: Ensure calibration processes are documented and compliant with ESA standards.
Requirements:
Education: PhD in Astronomy, Physics, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience: At least 8 years in astronomical instrument calibration; experience in space missions is highly valued.
Skills: Expertise in calibration techniques, addressing systematic effects, and proficiency in data reduction pipelines.
Collaboration & Communication: Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Desirable Merits:
Background in optical systems, detector technologies, and space instrumentation.
Experience in ESA projects or missions.
Proven track record in managing calibration plans for both ground-based and in-flight activities
