DescriptionStatus: Deadline for submitting applications: Saturday, 27 March, 2021 The CNIC has been conceived to develop research of excellence, competitive and of international relevance in relation to cardiovascular diseases. The CNIC has a research center of 24,000 m2, located in Madrid, with more than 6,000 m2 for laboratories equipped with a state-of-the-art infrastructure and equipment. The Molecular Mechanics of the Cardiovascular System Laboratory, led by Dr. Jorge Alegre-Cebollada at Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Cardiovasculares (CNIC) in Madrid, Spain, is considering applications for a Postdoctoral position to lead novel research lines in the context of the recently awarded ERC Consolidator Grant ProtMechanics-Live. The motivation of the project is to understand how mechanical forces determine muscle function at the molecular, cellular, tissue and organismal levels, by creating and applying first-of-their kind tools. We have recently published proof-of-concept experiments ( Rivas-Pardo et al. Nat Comm 11 , 2060, 2020 ). The final motivation of the research is to improve the understanding, diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular and musculoskeletal diseases. The successful candidate will also supervise other personnel in the laboratory including PhD fellows, MD residents, and undergraduate students. Mandatory requirements:
Evaluable experience:
We offer:
Selection plan: At least three candidates with the highest score (as long as they reach the minimum of 60 points as a sum of criteria C1 - C6) will be interviewed. The candidate with the highest score will be hired given the total score (C1 - C7) reaches at least 80 points. Candidates must submit in a SINGLE PDF FILE his/her CV and a motivation letter . The CNIC ensures the utmost rigor in the application of the principles of equality, merit and ability in public employment and current rules on data protection. Scoring criteria: C1 - Relevant track record of publications as a main author (number of publication and impact will be evaluated). - 15% C2 - Research experience in animal models, preferably in mice (number of years or fraction and number of techniques will be evaluated) - 15% C3 - Research experience in the cardiovascular system field (number of years or fraction and number of techniques will be evaluated) - 10% C4 - Experience in confocal and fluorescence microscopy and flow cytometry techniques (cell-sorting, FACS) (number of years or fraction and number of techniques will be evaluated). - 15% C5 - Experience in viral transduction techniques (number of years or fraction and number of techniques will be evaluated) - 10% C6 - Experience in molecular biology (PCR, RT-PCR, nucleic acids and protein extraction) and biochemistry techniques (SDS-PAGE, Western Blot, etc...) (number of years or fraction and number of techniques will be evaluated) - 15% C7 - Interview. (Part or all the interview will be done in English) - 20% "In the event of absence of any of the evaluators an alternate evaluator of the same area will be appointed" Common grounds for selection processes Application | |
