Payment of wages
How and when do I receive my salary?
- Although the law does not specifically specify the day and manner in which you must be paid your salary, this will depend on what is agreed in the contract or agreement.
- It must always be paid periodically without exceeding the month, that is to say, it could be agreed that the salary is paid daily, weekly and at the most monthly (it would not be legal for example every three months).
- The custom in Spain is to receive the salary on a monthly basis, normally between the 30th of the previous month and the 5th.
- When you receive your salary you will always have to receive the salary slip , which is a receipt where the salary concepts are defined, among them your gross salary and after the IRPF and Social Security deductions your net salary (the one you receive in your bank account).
How is the payroll?
As we have said, the payroll is the indispensable document that you will receive together with your salary, the legal document that summarizes the financial record of the salaries. It will contain all the information about your employer, your gross salary, deductions, overtime you have worked, etc.
Here is a table showing the total amount earned, i.e., your base salary plus any overtime you have worked or incentives received, on which deductions will be applied to obtain your net salary.
